Olympic Medalists to receive John Henry "Pop" Lloyd Humanitarian Award

by Webmaster

Inspired Bronze, Inc. (http://bronze.blu42media.com/), designers and manufacturers of custom bronze awards, trophies and fine sculptural art, was selected to create custom bronze awards for the John Henry “Pop” Lloyd Committee’s Humanitarian Award.  Sculptural bronze awards will be presented to two Olympians and an Award Winning Actor during the annual Pop Lloyd Weekend award ceremony, October 13, 2012 in Atlantic City.

The custom bronze awards model a three-dimensional bust of National Baseball Hall of Fame great, John Henry “Pop” Lloyd. The bust is modeled from a traditional portrait of Pop Lloyd wearing the “BXG” baseball jersey and cap. This unique design will be presented to this year’s Humanitarian Award recipients, Olympic Gold Medalist Donna deVarona, Olympic Equestrian Kathy Kusner, and Award Winning Actor Cicely Tyson.

“We are honored that the John Henry “Pop” Lloyd Committee selected Inspired Bronze to create the Humanitarian Awards for their upcoming award ceremony. We take great pride in our custom one-of-a-kind designs and are thrilled that this particular award will be presented to two Olympians and an Award Winning Actor who represent everything The John Henry Pop Lloyd Committee stands for,” says Matt Ramieri, Inspired Bronze president and head artist.

“The John Henry Pop Lloyd Committee’s Humanitarian Award is presented to those who embody the spirit and dedication of Hall of Fame great, “Pop” Lloyd in his care for the youth of America. In our 20th anniversary year, the Pop Lloyd Committee chose Inspired Bronze to cast a bust in his image to underscore the greatness found in those honored each year,” said Michael Everett, Director Pop Lloyd Committee

About Pop Lloyd Committee
The John Henry "Pop" Lloyd Committee began its work in the early '90's with the initial mission of restoring the Atlantic City baseball field dedicated in 1949 to honor the playing career and community service of National Baseball Hall of Fame great, John Henry “Pop” Lloyd. The Committee continues to extend this legacy so that the youth of America may benefit from the values engendered from “Pop” Lloyd, all those that played Negro League baseball, and the culture in which it was played. Through its ongoing educational outreach and public commemoration, the Committee celebrates a unique chapter in sports and American history that provides an opportunity to apply to our lives the lessons for living elegantly, with exuberance in the face of adversity and discrimination.
