Sculpting Process for the John Henry “Pop” Lloyd Humanitarian Award

What is Pewter Casting?

Pewter is considered the fourth most valuable metal in common use, after platinum, gold and silver. Pound for pound, pewter is more expensive than bronze however, there are a few factors that affect the overall price of a model cast in either material. The first factor is that pewter is a soft metal and weighs less than bronze. The same model will weigh considerably more in bronze than it will in pewter. While pewter is more expensive, a pewter model’s weight will be less. The second factor is that pewter has a much lower melting point than bronze. This allows for pewter to be cast directly into a silicone rubber mold, eliminating the many additional steps required in the lost wax casting process for bronze.

Pewter is the fourth most valuable metal in the world behind platinum, gold and silver. While pound-for-pound pewter is more expensive than bronze, the pewter casting process is much less labor intensive. Cast pewter trophies and awards remain true to the luxury brand Inspired Bronze clients expect while offering more variety and a quicker turnaround time that that of our signature cast bronze sculptural awards. All at a lower price point. Cast pewter trophies and awards can range lower in price 35%-50% per piece than our custom bronze designs. Once custom artwork has been completed, our pewter models will require much less time and labor allowing for a quicker turnaround time. Cast pewter trophies and awards offer our customers several customizable finishing and plating options including gold, bronze, rhodium and a traditional pewter finish.
